BLAQPOET of SCREWBALL
also featuring: BLACKARGO GEE.KO
presented by LEEDZ EDUTAINMENT
There’s not a lot of dudes making me rewind these days. Everything now is fast forward, next song. Everybody wants to go in the studio and not write their rhymes. What good is not writing your rhymes? It shows!” Blaq Poet’s words drip with venom, his face contorted like a mask in a Greek tragedy when discussing the current state of rap music. It’s hardly new diatribe. But the verbal slings take on renewed vitality when voiced by an artist who participated in rap’s greatest feud —the Bronx vs. Queens— as spearheaded by KRS-One and MC Shan, respectively. In this derivative era of MCs with their noses open, their eyes closed, and their imaginations overactive, Blaq Poet’s unapologetic streetwise bluster is refreshingly welcome. And the irony of getting back to rap’s essence —“bangin’ boom-bap, crazy lyrical content”—as something novel isn’t lost on the grizzled Queensbridge native.

REBIRTH BRASS BAND
OTHERWISE BROTHER JOCEPHUS
presented by ROCK ON CONCERTS
Simply put, The Rebirth Brass Band is a New Orleans institution.
Formed in 1983 by the now infamous Frazier brothers, the band has evolved from playing the streets of the French Quarter to playing festivals and stages all over the world. Rebirth is committed to upholding the tradition of brass bands while at the same time incorporating modern music into their show. Their signature brand of heavy funk has not only won over several generations of music lovers, it has become the soundtrack to an entire city. In the wake of the sometimes-stringent competition amongst brass bands, Rebirth is the undisputed leader of the pack, and they show no signs of slowing down.

HIGHFIRE SKYLINE
SINCERELY THE MANAGEMENT
Formed after the breakup of The Nicaea Room, one of New Hampshire's better known technical metal bands, and later with members of Boston based My Little Radio, Highfire Skyline pulls influence from all over the map. With their 2007 demo EP, the first line-up of the band showcased their new sound. Later, with the departure of their singer and a guitarist, the addition of new members, and the intent of getting back to the music which inspired them all in the first place, the boys blend melody and intensity with their own aggressive pop style.

BOOMBOX
TREE OF CROWS
presented by ROCK ON CONCERTS
BoomBox is Producer/Engineer/DJ/Drummer Russ Randolph and Producer/DJ/ Vocalist/Guitarist Zion Rock Godchaux, son of Donna and Keith Godchaux, best known for their stint with the Grateful Dead... This pair of dynamic artists uses their rich musical history and their vision of music and popular culture to deliver a style of music distinctly different from anything heard or seen in music today. This signature sound and show brings live music to a new, elevated level.
BoomBox evolved through the common visualization of a pair of forward thinking artists from diverse musical backgrounds. Raised by supportive and musically inclined parents, both Godchaux and Randolph had an obsession with music at very young ages. Godchaux, who grew up with deeply embedded rock and roll roots, began playing drums at the age of two, and played guitar and wrote his own songs as a teen.
During the 90s, Godchaux was a well-received touring DJ based out of the San Francisco area. Randolph began as a young drummer, but it’s what was happening behind the scenes that attracted him most. As much producers as they are musicians, it is Randolph’s understanding of soundscape and Godchaux’s knack for songwriting that keeps BoomBox resonating at higher levels.

ABE VIGODA
TALBOT TAGORA CLATTER CLATTER
Abe Vigoda returns to the wild with an incredible gem named Reviver. The followup to 2008's CD/LP Skeleton, this new 5 song EP stakes claim in new, darker musical territory. Reviver slows the mood, crashing into and washing over your senses; it takes an undeniably more experimental direction, yet is oddly catchy in semblance.
AV spent the better part of 2008 touring the states opening for acts such as NO AGE and DIPLO, touring Europe, and embarking on their own world journeys. Reviver bleeds with that newfound experience and suggests stunning growth even after such a short period of time. The EP hints at the band's next move which must be somewhere between pop and grayer, uncharted territory only the boys themselves can foresee. Reviver is an act of destruction and recreation, beautifully executed, and it stands on its own as a road marker for AV's future sound.

TREVOR HALL
Greetings. My name is Trevor. I play music…and love doing it. It has been a wonderful teacher, friend, and companion over the years. This is the part where I tell you a little about my life… so far. I grew up in South Carolina until the age of 16. I had a wonderful childhood, a great family, and good friends. I started playing music fairly young. My dad was a drummer and a musician himself. I guess I got some of his genes. Every day after school, I would come home, pick up my guitar, and write songs for a couple hours. It was my favorite time of the whole day. I began playing for my parents, who supported me to the fullest. For my 15th or 16th birthday, my dad got me some time in his friend's recording studio. I made my first record, which was mostly sold to my friends and family. It was at that time when my family and I started taking the music more seriously.
In my senior year of high school, I signed a record deal with Geffen Records. After graduation, I moved to LA to give my music full attention. I was very blessed to have worked with great producers such as John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews) and The Laboriel Brothers (Sting, Paul Mccartney). Unfortunately, other than an EP, none of the records I made with Geffen ever came out. They dropped me from the label in 2008. But that didn't deter me. I picked up my guitar, wrote 14 new songs, and recorded an acoustic album with my good friend/percussionist Chris Steele. We have named that album "This is Blue." It was a wonderful, liberating experience. I feel very lucky to still have the opportunity to create music with good friends and people.

THE RADIATORS
The Radiators were born during a transitional decade in the history of New Orleans music. The Meters, the premier funk band, had disbanded, the Neville Brothers formed, and in 1980 Professor Longhair, the father of New Orleans R&B and spiritual embodiment of Crescent City Soul had passed on. This decade would prove to be the fertile period of development when a unique blend of rhythms and sounds came together and "Fish Head" music was born. The Radiators, an extremely eclectic group of musicians, rely on a myriad of musical influences to create their own sound - "Fish Head Music". At a Radiators show it is not uncommon to hear blues, R&B, jazz, country, Zydeco, soul, swing, and even gospel filtering through their original New Orleans Rock N' Roll.
This group could only come from New Orleans. Since its earliest settlement, the city developed a rich musical heritage that gave birth to 20th century American music. Musicians from this region were the first to incorporate African rhythms with Western melody. Beginning with culture-blending jam sessions at Congo Square, this musical tableau unfurled in the hands of artists such as JellyRoll Morton, Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint, Earl King, The Meters, Dr. John and others too numerous to mention. These acts provided great inspiration for the Radiators.

LEE "SCRATCH" PERRY
Some call him a genius, others claim he's certifiably insane, a madman. Truth is, he's both, but more importantly, Lee Perry is a towering figure in reggae -- a producer, mixologist, and songwriter who, along with King Tubby, helped shape the sound of dub and made reggae music such a powerful part of the pop music world. Along with producing some of the most influential acts (Bob Marley & the Wailers and the Congos to name but two) in reggae history, Perry's approach to production and dub mixing was breathtakingly innovative and audacious -- no one else sounds like him -- and while many claim that King Tubby invented dub, there are just as many who would argue that no one experimented with it or took it further than did Lee Perry.
